Biography
He is a historically significant male voice actor who laid the foundation for Japanese SF and robot anime with his roles as Susumu Kodai in Space Battleship Yamato and Ramba Ral in Mobile Suit Gundam. His emotional performances, bringing to life Susumu Kodai's passionate sense of justice and Ramba Ral's melancholic pride, contributed to the recognition of anime as a cultural medium. He passed away in 1995 without seeing the revival of Space Battleship Yamato, at the age of 56. His voice continues to travel through the cosmos.
Path to Becoming a Voice Actor
Born in Tokyo, Japan. Member of the Bungei Actors' Association. Began his voice acting career in earnest in the 1960s after working in theater and stage. He changed the course of history with Space Battleship Yamato in 1974.
