Born in Chiba Prefecture, she is an actress, voice actress, and narrator. She is a member of Kabuki Eiga. She is a beloved national treasure for her role as the grandmother in the TV anime 'Manga Nihon Shinwa Banashi' alongside Fuziichi Ochida, delivering warm folktales to households across Japan for many years. With her calm and gentle voice and unique storytelling style, she has been loved by both children and adults, becoming a legend. She also starred in numerous films and dramas, continuing to perform at the top of her field until her passing in 2019 as one of Japan's representative actresses.
